Use this article to learn how to access and use the Assessment Details of an EdgeEX course.
Overview
Assessment Details gives educators a direct view into the lesson and quiz settings that contribute to tests and exams. The view is available at the catalog, course, section, and enrollment levels so users can see:
- Which lessons are in the course.
- Whether quizzes are on, off, or bypassed.
- Whether lesson content is included in or excluded from tests and exams.
At the catalog, course, and section level, Assessment Details is a diagnostic, read-only view. You can identify course customizations that may leave an assessment with too little content to generate, then make the needed changes by customizing the content again to include the content, if desired.
Assessment Details also shows a quiz bypass status. At the enrollment level only, educators who have the Add or Remove Bypasses permission can use a toggle to add bypassed quiz content back into tests and exams or exclude it again. Educators without bypass permission can still see the same information in read-only form so they can identify what is adjustable and involve an educator who can make the change.
Purpose of Assessment Details
When a student or teacher receives a blank screen while trying to access a test or exam, the assessment often cannot generate because too much contributing content has been removed. The Assessment Details pane allows educators to have a direct view into what contributes to a test or exam, for example:
- At the section level, course customizations can remove enough content that an assessment can no longer generate.
- At the enrollment level, course customizations can combine with bypassed quizzes and further reduce the content available to generate the assessment.
Accessing the Assessment Details
- Locate the desired course, section, or enrollment.
- On the left navigation, click Content.
- On the center pane, click Assessment Details.
The Assessment Details displays.
Perform any of the following actions:
Action Description 1. Semester View whether the semester exam is on or off. 2. Unit View whether the unit test is on or off. 3. Lesson View the following:
- In Course: Which lessons are included in the course.
- Quiz: Which quizzes are on and which (if any) have been bypassed.
- In Tests and Exams: Which lessons are included in tests and exams.
At the enrollment level only, educators who have the Add or Remove Bypasses permission can use a toggle to add bypassed quiz content back into tests and exams or exclude it again. For steps, continue to the next section of this article.
When an educator without bypass permission hovers over a disabled toggle, a message reads: "You don't have permission to edit this setting."
4. Expand/Collapse Expand or collapse the page by semester or unit by clicking Expand or Collapse All, or by clicking the arrow next to individual semesters and units.
Including and excluding bypassed quiz content on tests and exams
At the enrollment level only, educators who have the Add or Remove Bypasses permission can use a toggle to add bypassed quiz content back into tests and exams or exclude it again.
- Click the toggle to change the status from Included to Excluded, or the reverse.
- The toggle changes to the opposite status and a success message displays.
