Proctorio Lockdown Browser onboarding checklist

 Permission

The Proctorio Lockdown Browser should be tested by, and this Onboarding Checklist completed by, IT or Systems Administrators in your district. This is the person or team who manages your Allowed URLs list and configures district devices.

To install Proctorio Lockdown Browser, you must have the Manage District Features permission. To validate your permissions, reference Checking your educator permissions.

Onboarding checklist

Take the following steps to enable the Proctorio Lockdown Browser for your district.

Review Proctorio Lockdown Browser Allowed Extensions.

The Proctorio Lockdown Browser allows "friendly" extensions to coexist with the Proctorio Lockdown Browser extension. Students won’t be prompted to close these. Review the list of allowed extensions.

If your district uses GoGuardian, you will need to provide your unique extension ID provided by GoGuardian. 

To submit requests for new extensions or GoGuardian IDs, fill out this form.
3 Test the Proctorio Lockdown Browser.

Before enabling the Proctorio Lockdown Browser for students, test it yourself or ask your IT staff to test it. This will surface any compatibility issues with district-managed devices and prepare you to guide students and teachers and answer their questions.

  1. Install the Proctorio extension on your test device. If your district issues devices to students, test on the same device and device configuration that you issue to students.
  2. Log in to Imagine Edgenuity for students using this account.
    • Username: test-proctorio25
    • Password: stopcheating
  3. The test account has one heritage Imagine Edgenuity course and one EdgeEX course. Click a course tile.

  4. In the Course Map, click any Quiz, Test, or Exam. Click to Begin the assessment.

     Note

    The Proctorio Lockdown Browser takes over and runs a series of checks. You may be asked to click to do things like close extra tabs and browser extensions. When the Proctorio Lockdown Browser determines that your browser is locked down, it will let you access the assessment. When you submit or leave the assessment, the Proctorio Lockdown Browser will close. This is what your students will experience.
4 Install the Proctorio Lockdown Browser extension on student devices.

When you are finished testing and preparing students and teachers on what to expect, you are ready to enable the Proctorio Lockdown Browser in your schools. 

If your district issues managed devices, install the Proctorio extension on your student’s devices.

For Google Admin Console, add the following Proctorio extension ID: gfolddmfcichcfnghdchbfgpmgodmkjd
5 Enable the Proctorio Lockdown Browser in your schools.

 Note

To perform this step, you must have an Edgenuity account with the Manage District Features permission.

  1. Log in to Imagine Edgenuity and navigate to More > District Settings > Features > Lockdown Browser.

  2. Acknowledge that you’ve read the Onboarding Checklist (this Help Center Page).

  3. Click the edit icon.

  4. Select the schools for which you want to enable the Proctorio Lockdown Browser, and click Save.

  5. That’s it! The setting will take about 5 minutes to take effect, after which your students will encounter the Proctorio Lockdown Browser when they launch assessments.
