Note
- QTI integration is not supported for the following courses: AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, AP Environmental Science.
- QTI integration is part of the LTI Common Cartridge line item, which is a paid add-on feature. If you would like to purchase this feature, contact your Imagine Learning Account Executive.
Use this article to learn about how to work with QTI-enabled Quizzes in Schoology.
Identifying QTI-enabled quizzes
Importing QTI-enabled Thin Common Cartridge (TCC files) is exactly the same as importing non-QTI files. The main difference is the quiz object itself. QTI-enabled quizzes are identified with a green puzzle piece icon.
There are two ways to work with a Quiz:
- Creating and using Question Banks (recommended)
- Manipulating source Quizzes from the Resources section (not recommended)
Creating and using Question Banks (recommended)
Creating Question Banks
Creating Question Banks and having Quiz objects pull questions from them is the recommended way to work with Quizzes. This method is similar to the Canvas method of handling assessments. We recommend that you use this as your default method for working with large tests or cumulative exams.
- In the Resources section, to the right of the assessment, click the gear icon, then click Edit Questions.
- Click Options, then click Add Questions to Bank. This action creates a question bank from the questions in the assessment.
-
Select All is selected by default. Then click Next.
Note
We recommend that you keep Select All checked, but if you prefer to select and deselect the questions manually, you can do that as well.
- In the window that displays, create the new Question Bank, then click Add Questions:
Field Action Question Bank Select New Question Bank. Name In the box below New Question Bank, name the Question Bank.
We recommend giving it the same name as the source assessment.
Collection Select the collection and folder the original assessment is in. - The new Question Bank displays in your collection/folder/lesson under the original source assessment.
- To avoid confusion, we recommend deleting the old Quiz.
- Continue to the Using Question Banks section below.
Using Question Banks
Now that you have a Question Bank with content in it, you can create a Quiz and other assessments using the bank.
Caution
Schoology has a new object type called Assessments. We are not compatible with Assessments at this time.
- In the Resources section, click Add Resources, then click Add Test/Quiz.
- In the Add Template window, we recommend inputting the name with the exact name of the original Quiz. Fill out the other fields as your district desires, then click Submit.
- In the Quiz, select Add Question, then select From Question Banks.
- In the Import Questions from Question Banks window, select Random Questions.
- Navigate to the collection/folder where you stored your Question Bank, and click Select Question Banks.
- Input the number of questions and points per question, then click Add Questions. Twenty-two questions are now available, from which 10 will be chosen.
- A random set of questions displays. Click Preview to view the student experience.
Manipulating source Quizzes from the Resources section (not recommended)
District administrators can manually manipulate a quiz and share it with teachers or add it to courses from the Resources section.
- In the Resources section, navigate to a lesson and click on a Quiz. Here, you can view the questions in the Quiz (22–29 questions).
- Click the gear icon on the right and select Edit Questions.
Note
Clicking Edit or Settings allows you to do customization that was not possible with traditional TCC-delivered assessments.
- Click Add Question to add a question.
- Click the gear icon to the right of a question to edit or remove the question.
- After you add the Quiz to the Course, you can still make edits by clicking the gear icon to the right of the Quiz.
