EdgeEX — Scoring and adding comments to an activity

Use the steps on this page to:

• Change a score on a system-scored activity.
• Award a score on a teacher-graded activity.
• Add a written or audio comment to an activity.
• Add a written or audio comment to a student's previously scored activity without changing the score of the activity.

Changing/awarding a score and adding comments

1. Access the Manage Score flyout on the Grades tab.

2. On the Manage Score flyout, enter a score.
   

    Notes

   • In the Enter new score field, you can enter a decimal to the tenths place or a fraction that will convert to a percentage.
   • If you want to award extra credit, you can enter a score up to 200 points.
   • If a rubric is available for the activity you are grading, you can click View Rubric on the student work pane to use the rubric.
     
   • On Essay submissions that have met or exceeded the minimum word count of 150 words, an Apply suggested score option is available.
     

3. Once you have entered a score, the rest of the fields on the form unlock and you can add a written or audio comment. 

   To add a...	Action
   Written comment	Type the comment in the box.  Notes The Comment field for written comments has a 25,000 character limit, including spaces. On Short Writing submissions for the 4 core subjects, AI-Suggested Comments are available.
   Audio comment	To add an audio comment:  Click Add Audio. Click Record to start recording.  Click Stop to end your recording. Click Play to listen to your recording. You can add up to 12 recordings. To delete a recording, click the Trash icon next to the undesired recording.  Notes Audio comments are not available for activities that students have pretested out of. If an activity is in Not Started status, to enable audio comments, you must first add a score.

4. Click Submit.
   

    Notes

   • You can hover over the asterisk next to the Score to view information about who scored the assignment and when.
     
      
   • If you made a  comment, it will include a time stamp. You can hover over the time stamp later to see when the student viewed your comment.
     

5. Do one of the following:

   If	Then
   You are finished	Continue to the next step.
   You need to edit your previously entered score or comment	Click Edit and make the necessary changes to the grade or comment.  The score and comments fields are greyed out until you click Edit.

6. To save and close, click the X at the top of the flyout or click Cancel.
