Assignments That Do Not Influence the Course Grade

The following assignments will not be used in calculating the student's overall grade:

  • Vocabulary
  • Direct Instruction
  • Lectures
  • Instruction
  • Summary
  • Warm-ups
  • Pre-Writing Essay
  • Drafting Essay
  • World Language LMS Activities:
    • Mentor
    • Audio
    • Commentary
    • Performance
    • Written Assessments with a point value less than five

In these cases, Graded Attempts section of the gradebook will display a message in red stating, "This assignment's grade is not currently counted." These activities are used to prepare students for activities that will count in the overall grade. They do not necessarily need to be counted since there typically are not any questions associated with the activity. The summary and warm-up activities do have questions, but they are used to engage the student's critical thinking skills.

Once an activity has been forced to count as a grade, it cannot be undone unless you reset the activity.
