EdgeEX — Unlocking assessments from the Educator Launchpad

To unlock assessments from the Educator Launchpad, you must have the Complete Teacher Review permission. To check your permissions, reference Checking your educator permissions.

Use this article to unlock assessments for one student or multiple students from the Educator Launchpad.

When the Require Teachers to Unlock Assessments course option is on (known in heritage Edgenuity as Teacher Review), students are blocked from launching assessments until a teacher has manually unlocked them.

Once a student completes the activity that precedes an assessment, the student will automatically display on the Assessments to Unlock widget on the Educator Launchpad. The widget shows the total number of assessments that need to be unlocked, as well as the number that have been locked for more than 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Who can see enrollments that need assessments unlocked?
Teachers see only enrollments in sections they are assigned as primary or secondary teachers. Administrators see all enrollments in any schools they are assigned to.
What if the assessment I want to unlock does not appear in the Assessments to Unlock Quick View?
This can happen if a student has Free Movement on and has not completed the activity that precedes the assessment. You can navigate to the assessment directly. Choose the student’s course from their course list or the Manage Enrollments page, and unlock the assessment from the student's Grades tab.

Unlocking assessments

  1. Access the Educator Launchpad and review the Assessments to Unlock widget.
  2. Click the Quick View button.

  3. The Assessments to Unlock window displays. You can filter the window.

  4. Do one of the following:
    If Then
    You want to unlock assessments for all students on the list
    1. Click the lock icon at the top of the list.

    2. On the confirmation message that displays, click Confirm.

       Note

      If you unlocked all assessments in error, click the X at the top right of the confirmation message to undo the unlock.
    You want to unlock an assessment for an individual student
    1. Click the lock icon on the row of the individual student whose assessment you wish to unlock.

    2. On the confirmation message that displays, click the X to close the message.

       Notes

      If you unlocked a student's assessment in error, click Undo on the confirmation message.

      If you have already closed the Quick View, visit the student's Grades tab to re-lock an assessment.
  5. Click the X at the top right of the window to return to the Educator Launchpad.
