EdgeEX and heritage Edgenuity — Enabling accommodations and modifications

In heritage courses, educators enable accommodations and modifications by accessing the Manage Students page and clicking Edit Options for each applicable course. In EdgeEX courses, educators will access the Manage Students page and update the student profile.

Changes can be made at any time. The changes apply to a student's current enrollment and any work in it that has not yet been started.

To enable accommodations and modifications, update the Accommodations/Modifications section of the Student Profile. Once the Student Profile is set, it applies to all EdgeEX enrollments for that student.

The following settings are set as student profile settings, not in the course options:

  • Untimed Assessments: When enabled, assessments won't be timed.
  • Reduce Number of Assessment Questions: When enabled, reduces the number of assessment items on Quizzes, Tests, and Exams (does not include Pretests, Practice Tests, or Practice Exams).
  • Uses Screen Reader: When enabled, videos will not auto-play (to avoid audio overlap with screen readers).
  • Deaf or Hard of Hearing: When enabled, audio content is automatically presented with a transcript.

The following setting will be available in the future:

  • Reduce Number of Answer Choices on Multiple-Choice Items: When enabled, the number of answer choices is reduced to 2 or 3.

To enable accommodations and modifications, access the Manage Students page, select the applicable course, and click Edit Options. 

The following are set as course options:

  • Hide assessment timer.
  • Reduce items on assessments.
  • Reduce number of answer choices on multiple-choice items.
