Understanding the Student Session Log

This report allows you to see specific times when your student was logged in and working on coursework. You can use this view to determine if the student is spending sufficient time and whether that time is being used wisely- active time versus idle time.

The total time and activities for each day appear in the light blue header bars. You may want to consider working with students on specific goals for either a total number of activities to complete per day, or perhaps the total amount of time to spend each day in order to stay on track. The Activities Completed column shows the number of activities a student finished during that session. As the student moves through a lesson, each activity has its own count.

If you have access to multiple schools and any of those schools have different time zones, the times displayed on the Session Log and student activity submission time stamps will change to match the time zone of the school the educator is in (shown in the top-right corner).

 Note

If a student retakes a quiz, it displays on the Session Log as follows:

  • Student improves score: Quiz counts as 2 activities
  • Student does not improve score: Quiz counts as 1 activity

You can adjust the dates to include more than one week’s worth of data by using the From and To date fields at the top, then clicking the Submit button.

 Note

If the Academic Integrity add-on is enabled for a school and the Session Log is accessed from the Attendance Log, the log display includes a Speed Radar which shows any activities where the students' progress is faster than expected. These activities are highlighted in red on the Session Log.
