Setting up course options to maximize academic integrity

This article provides a recommended configuration of course options to maximize academic integrity. For full guidelines on implementing an Academic Integrity policy, reference Imagine Edgenuity implementation guide to ensuring academic integrity.

 Permission

To update course options, you must have the applicable permissions. For information about permissions and steps for EdgeEX and heritage Imagine Edgenuity courses, reference EdgeEX and heritage Edgenuity — Changing course options.

General course options settings

Set up your general course options as follows to maximize academic integrity. These settings apply to both heritage and EdgeEX courses:

Course option Recommended setting
IP Registry

ON and set to Instruction and Assignments Only

When activated, IP Registry can block students from accessing assessments from home or block students from accessing Edgenuity from outside the school network at all.

SecureLock Browser Experience

ON (set by the district).

The SecureLock Browser Experience will prevent students from opening new tabs, browsers, and programs while they’re working in Edgenuity.

Heritage course options settings

Set up your course options on heritage Imagine Edgenuity courses as follows to maximize academic integrity:

Course option Sub-option Recommended setting
Assessment Options Allow Save/Exit on Quizzes  ON with Hide Viewed Questions ON.
Allow Save/Exit on Tests ON with Hide Viewed Questions ON.
Allow Save/Exit on Exams ON with Hide Viewed Questions ON.
Fail Attempts Allowed

2 (3 if Pretesting is enabled), with Automatic Progression ON.

Set the desired number of Fail Attempts (retakes) and use Auto Progression to discourage unlimited retakes for assessments. If students are allowed only one, or even zero, retakes for heavily weighted assessments after they’ve failed them, they know they must work hard to do well on them. Review these settings periodically to be sure that they’re working for your students.

  • Quiz Activities Review
  • Test Activities Review
  • Exam Activities Review

Set Teacher Review on all assessments to ON, with:
