Depending on the answers to the questions below, a district or school might choose to fully adopt all the available EdgeEX courses, do a small pilot (for example, one course with a few teachers, a few courses with one teacher, just one school within the district), or give teachers time to explore EdgeEX courses this semester and wait until the next semester to enroll students. All of these options are available.
Choosing the best adoption period for a school or district
Review the table to determine which timeframe will work best for your school or district:
Considerations | Recommendation | |
---|---|---|
Do we have teachers who are excited to try something new? | Does your school have teachers who are interested in piloting EdgeEX courses? | Pilot EdgeEX courses with a small group of teachers now and plan to adopt more broadly later. |
Are we a relatively small district or school with good communication and strong leadership? | Is it possible to coordinate a district- or school-wide adoption with minimal disruption? | Adopt EdgeEX courses now. |
Do we have time to customize our courses to match the scope and sequence we use today? | Customizing a course in EdgeEX doesn't take long, but the ability to insert teacher-authored prompts and projects will not be available until later in 2024. | If you have time, adopt EdgeEX courses now. If you don't have time, start your customizations now, and enroll students when you're finished. |
Are enrollments created automatically through an integration? | In EdgeEX, you must create sections in which to enroll your students. |
If you want to manually create EdgeEX sections first, you can enroll students via enrollment integration today. Creating sections is easy and can be done in bulk. If you want your integration to automatically create sections, this feature will be available by the end of 2024. |
What features do we use? | There are some heritage Imagine Edgenuity features and integrations that are not yet available with EdgeEX courses. Does your school or district currently rely heavily on any of them? Check here for a list of features that will not be immediately available. |
Give teachers time to explore EdgeEX courses now and wait until the features you need are ready to enroll students. |
