EdgeEX — When should my district adopt EdgeEX?

We want you to adopt EdgeEX when the time is right for your district or school. You might choose to fully adopt all the available EdgeEX courses, do a small pilot (for example, one course with a few teachers, a few courses with one teacher, just one school within the district), or give teachers time to explore EdgeEX courses this semester and wait until the next semester to enroll students. All of these options are available.

Review the considerations below to determine when the time is right for you.

Reasons to adopt EdgeEX for BTS 2025

  • Your teachers have requested some (or all!) of the frequent feature requests that have already been released in EdgeEX.
  • You want to take advantage of the Academic Integrity Report, which is only available in EdgeEX.
  • You have a significant population of multi-language learners and want to offer the improved translation experience.
  • You want your math students to be able to take advantage of the answer explanations and just-in-time reteaching supports.
  • You want to offer some of the courses that are only available in EdgeEX (for example, the new Spanish and French courses, the updated Geography course, Mathematics for Data and Financial Literacy).
  • You like to have the "latest and greatest."
  • You are planning to adopt districtwide in 2026 but you want to pilot with a few teachers, courses, or schools in 2025 to get your feet wet.

Reasons to wait until BTS 2026

  • You customize many different versions of courses (more than just Credit Recovery, Initial Credit, and Honors) and need to be able to copy them between schools.
  • You only use middle school courses (currently, EdgeEX is only available for high school).
  • You are waiting for some of the features that won’t be released in 2025:
    • "Reduce distractors” modification for students with IEPs
    • Prescriptive testing
    • Lesson Mastery Report
    • Scores and Activity Review
    • Schedules
  • Your parents/guardians rely heavily on the Family Portal, which does not currently include data for EdgeEX courses (EdgeEX courses are included in the parent progress emails).
  • Your teachers are not comfortable managing some elements of their courses in two places.
    • EdgeEX courses use the Launchpad; heritage courses use the Dashboard.
    • EdgeEX courses have their own Attendance Logs and Session Logs.
  • You frequently rely on our services team to make bulk-changes for you.
