NCAA approval depends on how a course is implemented. Schools and districts should follow NCAA requirements for instruction, pacing, documentation, and transcription to support eligibility.

Supporting NCAA eligibility starts with the right implementation. Imagine Learning offers NCAA-approved pathways for courses taught:

  • Through Imagine Learning School Services.
  • By district teachers. Districts teaching courses with their own staff can pursue approval through their own NCAA process.

The following FAQ explains how approval works, what implementation practices matter, and how to request grade reporting support. 

Are Imagine Learning courses NCAA approved?
Courses taught using Imagine Edgenuity curriculum with Imagine Learning School Services certified teachers are already approved through the NCAA. Families and schools can view the approved course list by searching High School Code 850147 in the NCAA portal.
Can our district get NCAA approval for courses taught by our own teachers?
Yes. If your district is teaching the course with its own instructors, your district can pursue NCAA approval through its own NCAA process.
What are the best practices for district-taught courses?

To support NCAA approval, district-taught courses should follow these implementation guidelines:

  • Disable pretesting and prescriptive testing
  • Use the full initial-credit course with no content removed
  • Provide regular teacher interaction
  • Ensure course length and rigor match a standard high school course
  • Proctor major tests when possible
  • Maintain documentation such as syllabi, teacher logs, and work samples
  • Use accurate transcript coding and avoid labeling the course as credit recovery unless appropriate
How do I request a student grade report for courses completed through Imagine Learning School Services for NCAA?
Start by adding Imagine Learning School Services to your NCAA account using High School Code 850147. Then email ILNCAASupport@ImagineLearning.com with the student’s NCAA ID and graduation year. A date of birth is optional, but helpful. 
What information do I need before contacting NCAA support? 

To help the team process your request efficiently, have the following ready: 

  • NCAA ID
  • Graduation year
  • Date of birth, if available

Submission requirements

The requirements depend on the path to instruction used:

Instructional Services District teachers

Schools implementing with Instructional Services do not need to submit anything.

Students add the school to their NCAA profiles and Imagine Learning submits the course documentation to the NCAA directly.

To view Imagine Edgenuity's list of NCAA-approved core courses, visit the NCAA Eligibility Center and enter our school code: 850147.
  • Traditional schools: Schools that already have an NCAA "cleared" status and use Imagine Edgenuity as one of their methods of instruction, but also use a more traditional face-to-face instruction, no longer need to submit a non-traditional course questionnaire.

    They must add the Edgenuity course titles to their course lists (unless they don't list Edgenuity courses with different transcript codes, in which case they need submit nothing at all).

    Traditional schools that do not already have "cleared" status with the NCAA must submit a full account review.
     
  • Virtual and alternative schools: Schools using Imagine Edgenuity as their only curriculum must submit a full account review, which includes a core course evaluation. For the evaluation, they must submit a full package of curriculum materials, including the following for the courses they offer in tenth grade:
