Updating Text Translation for a student

Use this page to either enable or disable the Text Translation for a student.
Frequently Asked Questions:
If students translate text on screen, can they also use the text-to-speech tool to listen to the translated text?

Yes, if students have both the translation tool and the text-to-speech tool enabled, they can use both of them for any text on screen for some supported languages. The languages that can be read-aloud are: English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Arabic.

Are there courses for which text translation does not work?

Text translation does not work for eDynamic Learning or World Language courses.

For CTE courses, text translation works a little differently. The feature is built into the course and does not need to be enabled. Students can access the feature using the translation button at the lower-left of the page:

To follow the steps listed below, you will need to have "Edit Students" checked under Student Accounts. To validate your permissions, click here.

  1. Under More, select Update Student Options. Then click Text Translation

    Your action bar may look different based on your permissions.

  2. Select the radio button to Enable or Disable Text Translation for the student, then click Save

  3. A confirmation screen will show the change was made successfully. Click OK

    If Disabled was selected, then the confirmation page will say "Disabled."
