Graded Attempts vs Other Attempts

The Graded Attempt is the attempt that is influencing the student's overall grade. Any previous attempts are listed under Other Attempts. The student may have other attempts because the course was set up with two fail attempts. Another reason may be because the instructor reset the activity and provided the student with an opportunity to take the activity again. To view the attempts, click the hyperlink of Attempt

The scores in the Other Attempts section will not influence the student's overall grade.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean if the time shown for Time Spent on the Assessment Overview does not match the time on the Graded Attempts page?

If the amount shown for Time Spent from the Assessment Overview screen is greater than the amount shown for Time Spent under Graded Attempts, this is likely due to:

  • Network issues that can cause some lag time between clicking into the assessment and starting the assessment, or
  • The student not logging out of the session properly.

The most accurate total on the assessment attempt is the smaller Time Spent number, which will also match the Total Time metric on the Course Report.
